Explain to me. I'm curious.

We have always been prisoners here. We have always been used. We have never been people in our captors' eyes. We have known that experience doesn't matter; they'd send any of us to die.

How many times will you plead with them? Do you enjoy it? They'll never listen.

Why is this not prepared for? We can ensure the safety of our fellows - all of us. If another cannot fight, they must be defended. They are not liabilities; they are cooks, healers, couriers, watchmen. They are the people that keep soldiers alive. Your begging only scares someone already at the mercy of another. It will not save them. You could, if you would turn that energy to providing for their protection.

If you will not, I will. We must help each other.

Who among the drafted cannot fight, and is alone? What skills do you have?

Who will defend these people? It will be the most important job of all.

Organize yourselves here. If you can't find someone to partner with, I will help. I'm not going, but I will not let others go undefended.

Thanks to the Malnosso, I'm still half blind. But I know how to fight - I've trained to fight beings more powerful than myself for most of my life, which comes out to several decades. And some of that training did cover fighting what you couldn't see. I can use most medieval weaponry - swords, axes, crossbows - and some rather more high tech armaments, like guns.

I've never fought in a jungle before, so I thought I'd keep back with...whatever base camp we manage to establish. I can fight, but I've never been in a rain forest even when I could see. I'm not sure how well I'll do with traveling.

But if any noncombatants need protection, I'll do whatever I can. Especially for any noncombatants. I've fought in a war before, I like to hope that I won't lose my composure out there if others do.

...I don't want to hold any traveling groups back, but I've...started reconsidering my earlier hesitation. A lot of you on this list are my friends. Do any of you need my help out there?

I may need assistance while working through the jungle from someone who can handle a sword or heavier weaponry than myself as that type of weaponry is not my forte.

The first step would be to determine how many there are in need of protection, and then find out how many volunteers we have to serve as defenders and divide them up accordingly.

With any luck, we'll be able to have some sort of system in place by then. But it will require cooperation from those going, and that is something that can't be guaranteed.
