To those I spoke with about further training:

I will be at the Barracks this Wednesday evening. You may meet me there so that I can asses your skills.

If there are others without knowledge of self-defense, I am still capable of taking on more students. I would suggest you consider the opportunity carefully. You may not always have the luxury of another to fight on your behalf.

[Filtered to his Edward, 40% unhackable]

Edward, I wish to speak with you. My room, if you would.

[OOC Notes of Doom: If there is interest, I will toss up a post or a log on Wednesday for the class. Otherwise, if you could just leave me a note or pm me or ping me on aim or something, so I can get an idea of your character's general skill and attitude about the whole thing and how Sig will react to them.

Also, I know I still have tags on the last post. Gettin' to 'em now. Sorry about that.

...Oh. And the start of Sig's relationship post is here, if you wanna see that.]

[Edward pauses at that, his mouth suddenly going dry. He swallows, then nods slightly.] No, I'm not. [Another pause, and then he adds:] But... I think the change has been for the better, despite the circumstances.

[Sigmund nods. That's promising. It's the sort of thing he hoped to hear from Edward, and if a change for the better meant a change away from Sigmund... well, that probably was for the better.]

I'm glad to see that you've grown.

[It's less a change away from Sigmund as a change away from humanity, but... well, Sigmund doesn't have to know that. It's an unpleasant part of history that he's much happier ignoring. So let's try some good news, instead.]

I... pledged to protect Capell in your place. [Eventually.] He and I are friends now.

[That is good news. All of this standing is a little tiring, though. Sigmund sits down on the edge of his bed and smooths a wrinkle out of his sleeve.]

I'm glad to hear it. I hoped you might learn to get along.

I'm sorry I was so difficult with him before. I was... [Jealous. Over-zealous. Too passionate for his own good.] ...Very foolish. It couldn't have been easy for you, dealing with my mistreatment of him.

[Perilously close to parting with some teeth on occasion, not that Sigmund will tell him that.] I should have explained myself. The fault is mine.

[Yeah, Ed's happy with not knowing that. |Db Though it wouldn't be too difficult to guess.] I can't possibly blame you for this, my lord.

[...

That was sharper than Sigmund intended it to be. He takes a breath and looks at the floor before continuing, more softly this time.]

I intentionally withheld knowledge that others had a right to, because I was afraid of the consequences. I am at fault, whether you will admit it or not.

[The last thing Edward wants is for Sigmund to be angry with him, so he merely nods, lowering his head. Even he's not sure of the real answer to that question.

He... he knows Sigmund isn't perfect. It's extremely difficult to admit to himself, and it was something that had taken months to even acknowledge in the past. But he's still not sure he can say it aloud.

Especially not to Sigmund himself.]

[Sigmund didn't mean to snap like that, even if it is incredibly frustrating that after spending days convincing himself he should apologize, Edward won't let him. It really isn't fitting, being short with Edward while apologizing for being short with Edward.

He's been trying to avoid it, but just this once he stands and rests his hand briefly on Edward's shoulder. It's more of a reassuring tap than anything.]

That was all.

[Oh dear. Was he being dismissed? Not that he blamed Sigmund; it had been a difficult conversation for them both, to say the least. And from the look of things, Sigmund had been busy. Edward himself had plenty to keep himself occupied with over at the smithy.

...But...

...No, he can't dwell on the past anymore. He doesn't want to become that bitter, angry person he used to be. So he stood, lifting his head, and crossed an arm over his chest in salute.]

I... thank you for your honesty, my lord.

I want you to keep this safe for me, Edward.

[If Ed reads the part of the front page visible around the twine holding it together, it appears to be Sigmund's life story. Weeks of sleepless nights have gone into writing all of this down.]

It is... reassurance. Put it someplace safe.

[He expects Edward will probably find temptation too great and read it anyway, but he could at least be sneaky about it.]

It must belong to someone else. I do not wish to find myself with neither my memories nor a record of them.

[...Well, it's not an unreasonable request. And while the temptation is there, he knows plenty about Sigmund's life already, and he doesn't want to break the trust Sigmund seems to have in him. So he nods, tucking the pages protectively against his chest - with the back facing out, so he can't look at it again.] I will keep it safe for you, then.

[The way Edward holds the bundle to his chest is amusingly protective. Privately, Sigmund can't help but be reminded of a child with a favored object. He's almost certain he used to have a storybook he carried around that way. He tilts his head down to hide his amusement, although his hand on his hip may give him away.]

Should something happen, you may read it.

[Because if something should happen here, that might be the end of him. The Tales of Sigmund probably aren't anywhere near the riveting read The Tales of Volsung were - it was only two years, but he feels like half of what he wrote about was the Force having either no fol or no food - but Edward should have something, at least.]
