chaincutter: (soaring blade)

010 [action] Dammit, Katie

  • Aug. 12th, 2010 at 7:29 AM
[Sigmund would love to be helping to get these monsters under control, he really would. It's been far too long since he's had a proper fight. Unfortunately, that is going to have to wait a while, because certain nine year old girls in his care pick the worst times possible to run off. This child is going to worry him to death. Which means that, at the moment, he is searching every last inch of the village, attempting to not look like he's not in danger of collapsing from lack of sleep. He may just be in danger of collapsing from lack of sleep. It's not even a big village! It shouldn't be this difficult to find her!

Matters haven't exactly been helped by the summon sprite that decided they were now the very best of friends. There is a Hydrake flying after him with all of its derpy little might. If he makes a sudden stop, it tends to collide with him and chirp-squeak loudly in protest. He is generally trying to ignore it, even when it viciously attacks things in his vicinity by... blasting them with a spray of bubbles. Hydrake is not exactly the most formidable of allies.

He'd stop his hunt for a moment, if someone being chased by a zombie horde or a giant dragon or something ran by. No time for leisurely chatting, though. He is a man on a mission.]

[Roger that! Edward turns on his heel, lightning arcing across the blade as he slashes out at the dragon's closest leg. It roars in reaction to both blows, thrashing about, the sound nearly deafening. Edward honestly can't recall ever fighting something so big; it's frightening.]

[Sigmund makes the leap up to the roof again, although the dragon's thrashing hasn't done the house any favors. He's just hoping the building won't fall out from underneath him and making a calculated risk. Unlike Edward, he's an old hand at fighting things on this scale, and he knows that the longer the fight wears on, the more dangerous this is going to get. Attacking the head didn't go so well last time, but maybe, just maybe, if Edward keeps it distracted long enough...]

[With the dragon already staggering, Edward keeps moving, thrusting his sword into the creature's other leg with all the force he can muster and shifting to stand on the foot as it angrily stomps and stumbles, to avoid being crushed. Outraged, the dragon twists its head around to try and bite the swordsman off its leg, so it would be nice if Sigmund attacked before his Luceti Liberation Force dropped to one member...]

[Don't worry, Edward, your Liberator is on it. Naturally the best way to stop a dragon from eating Edward is to stab it in the face, so that's exactly what he's going to do. Edward should be used to Grinn Valestis right over his shoulders by now, right?

The dragon isn't terribly happy about the gash at the corner of its mouth, but Sigmund certainly is.]

[My hero! Not that Edward has any time to think about it. As soon as the dragon's head is away from him, he shoves on his sword, the blade tearing ruthlessly further into the leg. It might take a minute with the summon's constant struggling and lashing out, but once the sword rips free at the other side, it lacks the support to stay upright, crashing down on all fours. Still horribly dangerous, but... shorter, at least?

...And Edward probably should have moved. Having a dragon land on you is really unhealthy.]

[No, having a dragon land on you tends to be bad for your lifespan. It wasn't that great for their house, either.

Unfortunately, Sigmund has his own problems, because putting a big gash in a dragon's face tends to leave one's limbs uncomfortably close to its mouth. It's used the pole of its spear to hold one of his legs down, and Sigmund's shield constantly bashing it in the face is about the only thing protecting him. There are no words for how much he hates dragons.]

[By some great luck, Edward's new giant dragon pillow missed him enough so that he's only trapped under a wing, probably feeling one hell of a head injury, but that can come later. First order of business is getting himself free, so he thrusts his sword upwards, tearing into the wing and trying to make a convenient hole for him to get through. Hopefully that'll distract and anger the dragon enough to take a break from trying to eat Sigmund's head.]

[It's certainly not happy about Edward's efforts, no, and it stretches its neck out to try and reach him. Sigmund knows an opportunity when he sees it and wrenches his leg free, even if it does cause his ankle to twist in a way that he's sure isn't healthy. He takes his sword in both hands and jabs it upwards with all his strength, into the underside of the dragon's head. That was the opening he'd been waiting for.]

[That attack is as good as any for a killing blow; the dragon shrieks, writhing desperately for a few moments before shuddering and crashing to the ground, no longer moving.

Edward, meanwhile, has finally managed to cut himself free, climbing up onto the creature and rising to a crouch, sword half-lifted just in case.]

...Is it done, my lord?

[Sigmund stabs it again to be sure. He'd like to kick it in the head out of spite, but refrains out of respect for Edward if nothing else.]

Yes. [He takes a moment to look around him.] As is our house.

[Uuuugh. He can sort of understand why Sigmund isn't a dragon fan after this; they're not easy to fight by any means. Edward slides down the wing to return to solid ground, returning his sword to his back and getting a better look at the monstrosity.]

...An unfortunate loss.

[They aren't easy to fight, no, but now that it's down, Sigmund is examining his kill with interest. He may or may not be deciding if they can eat it.]

We'll have to find shelter elsewhere.

[Meanwhile, Edward is examining the dragon's armor, because it looks like pretty solid stuff. If he could salvage some of it for the smithy, just imagine the beautiful pieces he could produce...!

...What? Oh.]

There may be another house available somewhere.

[Sigmund rests his head on his hand. His stuff is buried under this mess, some of it rather important, like the armor Ed forged for him. There's going to be some digging in his future, clearly]

We salvage what we can, then move.

[Edward glances over at the house, pondering whether or not it's even safe to touch, then tears free a massive armored claw. Now that's what he calls salvaging.]

...The crafting of this armor is exceptional. I'd like to take some of it back to the smithy, as well.

[Since when has Lord Sigmund cared about safe or sensible? There are things he wants out of this house, there are things he's getting out of this house. He prods some wreckage out of the way, gives everything a cursory examination, and then disappears inside.

Edward may now begin having a heart attack.]

[After literally... a few minutes and no effort put into hunting for it, Sigmund finds another way out through what used to be a window. In no time at all, he's pulling Ed's sword off his back and setting it aside. Then, Ed will feel Sigmund's hands on his waist. Ed should just not think about the position he is now in.]
