[Albert and Caesar]

I would like a word, when you have the time. In person.

[Katara]

Are you well?

[Richard]

There is something I wish to show you. When is a suitable time to meet?

[With those messages taken care of, Sigmund makes a quick round of the house to check that everything and everyone is well before he starts his morning routine. Unfortunately, this leads to a less than thrilling discovery. Aya's room is empty. Gone. He knows he should be pleased that she's not trapped here any longer... so why does he feel that twinge of loneliness and guilt? He'll knock on both Ed and Capell's doors before he goes, so that he can give them the news. ...Individually. Individually would probably be best.

Oh, and there was that matter he wanted to speak to Edward about, as well... But perhaps today isn't the best day.]

[No, they haven't been; but they can't avoid each other forever, and Sigmund knows it.]

Then I require your assistance for the day.

[Edward isn't sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing - he's been wary of letting himself get his hopes up lately - but he still has yet to refuse Sigmund's requests, so he nods, stepping back to retrieve his armor.]

Whatever you need, my lord- I'll do my best.

[There's a flash of something across Sigmund's face when Edward reaches for his armor. Amusement? It's hard to tell. The change in expression is brief, gone almost as soon as it appears.]

I need you to carry something.

[...Sob. Useful for his muscles. Edward isn't really bothered though; any chance to help is a good chance, after all. Armor on, he turns back to Sigmund, ready and attentive.]

What is it?

[More useful for his inches, really. Sigmund's certainly strong enough to carry anything Edward can. If only there wasn't that pesky question of being shorter than the cargo...]

A sword. [Sigmund turns to leave the room, and motions for Edward to follow.]

[A sword? Since when has Sigmund needed help with that? Was he sick again?

Suddenly stricken by the very idea of it, Edward hastily moves to follow, keeping up with Sigmund's pace. Just what was going on?]

[Sigmund leads him back to his room, where the Karathos Blade is hanging vertically on the wall by the door. Which might just highlight why he needs it carried, because it is clearly several inches taller than he is. If he had a proper harness for it, this wouldn't be a problem. Alas, he does not have a harness, but he does have an Edward, and an Edward is good too.

Although... now that he's looking at it, he just can't bring himself to say 'I'm too short to carry this across town comfortably.' He'll just... gesture at it and hope Edward gets the idea.]

[...Oh, huh. That's the problem. Edward blinks at it for a moment, then nods, heading over to it and lifting it to slip it into place at his back. ...Feels good, actually. It's an excellent weight, and the balance of the blade is exceptional. He can't really help feeling envious. The quality of it is obviously well above and beyond his own.] Where to, my lord?

[Oh, just a little problem, but carrying it all that way would have been a tall order.

Sigmund glances at his armor before answering, but decides that this is going to be all the weight he can manage for now. He's got a lot of building back up to do. Hopefully Edward hasn't noticed. He does grab Balmung and his shield, though. A sharp nod and his heading towards the door are Edward's signal that they're leaving.]

The barracks. I require space.

[Edward nods, hastily following after Sigmund. He feels a little flare of intrigue - and definitely some interest - at the response he's been given. A chance to watch Sigmund practice with a sword of this size? He's never seen it before! Now he can't help but hope Sigmund will let him stay afterwards, even if it's just to cart the sword back home again.]

[Sigmund stops in the kitchen before they leave, to grab a canteen of water and a bundle of food. He plans to work hard, after all. He'll have to keep his strength up. After that, he leads Edward out the door and down the road.]

Will you be able to find your way back?

[Oh dear. He had to ask that, didn't he? Edward glances around, keeping an eye on the signs Brave Vesperia had put up around town. He doesn't want to inconvenience Sigmund.]

I should be able to, my lord...

If you are unsure, stay with me.

[From his tone of voice, and as he doesn't look back, it's hard to tell whether he says that because he doesn't want the bother of looking everywhere for Edward later, or because he's honestly concerned, or perhaps even a mix of both.]

[...Well. If he insists. Edward nods, keeping his eyes on Sigmund's back as he follows. The sword is new, but the position is familiar, and it makes Edward reflect on how rarely they actually get to do this. Luceti isn't exactly good for normal heroics.

Not that this is anything particularly heroic, but some small progress is still progress. Which is a good thing. Right?]

...Then I'll stay, my lord, with your permission.
